Time flies, and we are in the last quarter of 2024. This is when you should start considering switching your electricity, gas, internet, car insurance, and other contracts.
Companies offer various discounts to attract new customers. You should take advantage of this and save more than 1000€ annually by switching your contract.
How do you do it?
- Simply compare plans on Check24 or Verivox.
- If you find a cheaper contract, sign up for it.
- The new company takes care of canceling your old contract.
How much you can save?
I changed my plans when writing this newsletter. Here is how much I will save.
Electricity: 663€ per year
Compare electricity contracts: Check24*, Verviox*

Gas
I don't have a gas contract for heating my apartment as I pay it as part of my warm rent. If you have a gas contract, you can change it and save around 500€.
NOTE: When looking for electricity and gas providers, it doesn't matter which provider you choose. As you'll get the same electricity and gas in your home, irrespective of the provider. So, it's beneficial to pick the cheapest contract.
Of course, if you prefer a renewable energy source, pick the plan that offers it.

Internet: 781€ in two years
I currently pay 45€ per month for my internet connection.
After switching, my net cost will be 12,44€ per month for 24 months. I can change the provider again on the 25th month. 🤑

NOTE: Check24 offers cashback. However, you must upload your first invoice to get this cashback.

Car
Unfortunately, I didn't find a cheaper plan to change my car insurance. However, it doesn't mean you won't find one. So, take a few minutes and compare the car insurance plans on Verivox* and Check24*.
You should ensure that your car insurance plans cover the minimum benefits. You can read more about it here.
Additionally, there are many ways to save on car insurance, such as
- Opt for a “Deductible”: A deductible of just 300 euros can save you up to 28 percent in car insurance costs.
- Switch to an annual payment plan: You can save up to 10% by switching from a monthly to an annual payment plan.
- Limit the number of drivers: The car insurance cost increases with the number of drivers you insure. So, keep the drivers to a minimum.
- Estimate annual mileage defensively: On average, car insurance costs increase between 8% and 15% every 5000 km.
- Let go of the option of picking a car workshop. You can save up to 11% by repairing your car at the workshop your insurer recommends.
- Car insurance for vehicles with seasonal plates is cheaper than those with normal license plates.
- Bring no claim bonus from your home country.
- Your SF-Class. With each passing accident-free and no-claim year, your SF-Class is increasing. Higher SF Class fetches you higher discounts.
