I fell sick and was about to travel back to Germany.

Law : Companies are required to disclose AI interactions, deepfakes, and public-interest text from 2 Aug. The Bundesnetzagentur acts as the central surveillance and coordination authority in Germany. Infringements of transparency rules risk EU-level fines of up to β¬15 million or 3% of global annual turnover. You may also face civil cease-and-desist warnings from competitors. Here are the core requirements.
AI Interactions: Chatbots and voice assistants must explicitly tell users they are communicating with an AI, unless it is obvious from the context.
Synthetic Media & Deepfakes: Real-looking AI-generated or manipulated images, audio, and video must carry visible labels and machine-readable markers (C2PA metadata).
Public Interest Texts: AI-generated text must be labeled, unless it has undergone human editorial review and responsibility. [1]
Insurance : After a burglary, fire, or water damage, you must report the loss to your Hausratversicherung company within 1 to 2 weeks to avoid losing the claim (Az. 8 U 190/14). You also must inform the police in case of burglary. Your insurer requires a detailed list that includes the value, purchase date, and receipts for the damaged items. Reporting after 17 days: Payout cut by 20% (Az. 8 O 312/09)
Reporting after three weeks: Payout cut by 40% (Az. 13 O 3064/09). [2]
Tax : Depending on what the ETF invests in, you pay different taxes.
Equity ETFs invest primarily in stocks. 30% of the returns from such ETFs are tax-free.
Mixed fund ETFs: These combine, for example, stocks and bonds. 15% of the returns are tax-free.
Real estate fund ETFs: They invest in real estate. 60% of the returns are tax-free.
Other ETFs: This includes bond or money market ETFs. No tax exemption.

Phishing : The following phishing attempts have been reported.
Criminals are now ringing doorbells, posing as tradespeople, service providers, or officials. They claim urgent repairs are required and demand high sums. They even cause the alleged damage themselves. You should always ask to see identification, refrain from opening the door if in doubt, and verify by calling the issuing agency or company. [1]

Rossmann recalled GENUSSPLUS KIDS apple fruit chips. Salmonella was found during internal testing. [2]

Germany's unemployment rose by 71,000 in July 2026 to 3,007,000. The unemployment rate rose 0.2 percentage points to 6.4%. The Bundesagentur fΓΌr Arbeit expects the market to continue to weaken. [1]
Ceuta has begun to return to normal. Fnideq is still in chaos after the mass migration surge. Many migrants are returning from their failed attempts to reach Europe. [2]
The Rhine has fallen to historically low levels. This has disrupted shipping and prompted calls in North Rhine-Westphalia for a national crisis task force. Several other major German rivers are also at very low levels. The situation is expected to worsen if rain does not return soon.[3]
Ukraine carried out drone strikes on targets in Russia. This includes an oil refinery and a military airfield. Russian authorities said they intercepted 635 Ukrainian drones and reported multiple deaths on both sides. Russia continued attacking Ukrainian cities.[4]
Wildfires west of Athens have spread further. Around 500 firefighters and volunteers are battling the blaze. Strong winds have made the situation worse. Two helicopters collided during firefighting operations, killing both pilots. [5]
