If the government calculates that your household is entitled to less than €15 per month in Wohngeld, you won't receive it. Earlier, the threshold was 10€. This reduces the number of households qualifying for Wohngeld. Hence, reducing the administrative burden on the state. [1]
Proposed : Paid child sick leave (Kinderkrankengeld) will be reduced from 15 to 10 days per parent per year. [2]
Transport : Berlin’s transport association raises most fares by 3.72% from January 1, 2027.
The AB monthly pass rises from €113 to €117.20.
The 24-hour ticket rises from €11.20 to €11.50.
Single tickets in zones AB and ABC stay at €4 and €5.
The Deutschlandticket is projected to rise from €63 to around €66.80. [6]
Law : E-scooter rental companies such as Lime, Bird, and TIER will become liable for accident damages regardless of fault. The Bundesrat passed the law on September 25. It removes the e-scooter exemption from standard vehicle-owner liability (Halterhaftung). [6]
Law : No more vague sustainability claims such as “eco” or “sustainable”. Companies must show verifiable evidence before using such tags on their packaging. You can report misleading claims to Deutsche Umwelthilfe. [7]

Deadline : The deadline to file the 2025 income tax return (Steuererklärung) has passed. If you missed the deadline, you can hire a tax advisor. The deadline with a tax advisor extends to March 1, 2027.
Warning : The BVL warns against dietary supplements containing lithium. Companies are marketing such supplements with claims like “mental clarity” and “inner peace”. Lithium carbonate and lithium orotate are not approved food supplements in the EU. Even a moderate rise in blood lithium levels can cause excessive thirst, tremors, and confusion. Severe cases can lead to coma or death. Do not take lithium supplements without a doctor’s supervision. [10]
Phishing : Fraudsters are spreading WhatsApp chain messages that ask you to vote for a child in a contest. The message contains a link or QR code that leads to a fake login page. The page asks for your phone number and a WhatsApp verification code. The criminals then link their device to your WhatsApp account and ask your contacts for money. Delete such messages. Never confirm a device pairing you did not start yourself. [11]
Phishing : Investment and crypto-trading fraud. The Bundesnetzagentur and federal police disabled 9,304 phone numbers used for investment and crypto-trading fraud in the past three months. Always verify the trading platform and its license on BaFin. Never share banking credentials or ID copies. [12]
