Tax : Claim farewell expenses in taxes. If you invite colleagues to a farewell or start-of-career celebration, you can claim the costs as business expenses. You must meet the following conditions to claim the expenses:
The celebration must take place in a professional context (e.g., in the office or with colleagues, no private guests).
The expense amount is appropriate for your position (e.g., €50 per person is acceptable for managers).
You must keep the invoices and invitations as proof.

The law clarifies repair rules for ecodesign products, complementing Germany's Right-to-Repair Directive. The law still needs to pass through the Bundesrat before it enters into force. Read more ->
Proposals : Germany is considering raising the retirement age to 70 in three phases.
from 67 to 68 in the 2040s
from 68 to 69 in the 2050s, and
from 69 to 70 in the 2060s.
The proposal has not been approved. The pension commission needs more time before a decision. CDU/CSU MPs have backed the increase. [2]
Proposals : German Health Minister proposes raising the long-term care insurance (Pflegeversicherung) surcharge. This affects childless employees only. The premium will rise from 0.6% to 0.7%. The change requires a Bundestag vote. [3]

New launch : Opus 4.8 is here. We are at a stage where new model releases no longer feel like a big technological leap. The good news is that the Opus 4.8 pricing is the same as that of 4.7. However, you have two new modes in Opus 4.8
Cheaper "Fast mode."
Ultracode mode: This sets the effort to "Extra-high" by default. It also allows Claude to autonomously decide whether to run workflows. Workflows is another concept that Anthorpic launched. It enables Claude to run tens to hundreds of sub-agents to complete a long-running task.
Learn : Anthropic documented best practices of prompting the Opus 4.8here. It's worth the read.
Trend : AI is changing the pricing models for bill-by-the-hour jobs. AI can now help with research, document generation, creating prototypes, and more. This is changing how industries charge. The classic bill-by-the-hour may not exist in the future. Companies operating in marketing, consulting, law firms, etc., are facing pressure from clients to switch to outcome-based pricing.
Learn : Yes, the new models can write code faster than any human team can. However, before you start pushing code, it's vital to have a solid architecture and rules in place. Otherwise, you will be lost in the code and refactoring.
